Miami, Florida, October 20, 2006 (Business Wire) – Empire Investment Holdings announced today that its affiliate MSI Surgical Solutions, LLC has completed the acquisition of the off-site surgical reprocessing division of SSI Surgical Services, Inc, an affiliate of Teleflex Incorporated. The company is a leading provider of full reprocessing services to hospitals and surgery centers for reusable surgical instrumentation and supplies, which are processed and delivered daily. The company has been renamed MSI Surgical Solutions and will keep its corporate headquarters in Syosset, New York. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
“Bringing back the MSI name was a key first step in our strategic growth plan,” said David F. Alfonso, Empire’s chairman and chief executive officer. “We plan to work closely with management and the staff to focus on the core strengths and fundamentals which have driven the success of the company for over twenty-five years.” The company will operate as a stand-alone entity, led by its own management team, and will announce additional details about its strategic plans, as well as launch its branding campaign during the initial transition period.
